Stargazer Lilies 24x20

I have not painted a large still life for a while.  Haven't painted anything large for a while.  I have been feeling very down about the economy.  When things aren't going the way we plan or think even though we are trying our best, it's difficult to get motivated.  A call from Jim McDonald asking me to join his "art party", talking to my friend Nancy and some other little "God sends" have made me rethink my attitude about the whole thing.  Also helping my friend Eleanor with her blog has made me realize we just have to stay in the saddle and keep trying.  I wasn't all that happy with this painting.  It feels a little cool but it's ok and for a large work in a while I guess I am just happy to have it completed.  I'll see if it is a keeper I guess after the honeymoon is over.
Thanks for looking and tell me what you think.  It's fun to be really painting again and focusing on my art and not on the world!  Thanks Nancy, Eleanor and Jim!

Jazz Musician

The Jazz Musician  16x12  Sold

This was my demonstration for my class yesterday.   It's amazing I was able to complete it.  I wasn't going to but it wasn't working and so it was suggested by my students to put in the flowers.  Then they really wanted to see it finished so I trudged through.

Thank you for viewing my work.  Please feel free to contact me concerning any painting on my blog or website.  832 640 7131.

Ok. I am going to try the ebay thing again. The reason I am doing this is to try to get more hits to my website and my blogs. Going to try it even though painting this small is not my thing really but I do like painting these little bottles of fingernail polish for some reason.

Arlene's Place

Arlene's Place 10x12

This is a plein air painting done recently in Brenham, Texas. I was out painting with the Outdoor Painter's Society of which I am a member. It was a beautiful week. The weather was perfect. This reminds me of the coolness of the week and what great fun we had now that it's June and over 100 degrees every day!

Quiet Day on Creek Street

"Quiet Day on Creek Street" 11x14

I have been traveling a lot this spring. I spent a week in Brenham painting the bluebonnets. Then we were in Fredericksburg a week. The first week in May, myself and 5 plein air artists went to Louisiana to paint for a week. It's been fun but now it's time to stay home and get some larger paintings done.

When I did this painting in Fredericksburg, we were having some very touchy weather. Lots of clouds that week so it was pretty much a gray day. Thanks for looking.

Warm Daisy Day 12x9

I love painting daisies. They are not the easiest thing to paint and it's difficult to keep them simple. This was a demonstration for a recent workshop. I hope it turned out ok.

It was a fun workshop and HCAA in Bellaire has asked me back to do another so I agreed. If you are interested in a workshop about "Getting back to the basics" you should join us in June. Check my website for details.

Thanks for visiting! Have a blessed day!

"Hold the Blue"

When I was painting plein air recently and a gentleman walked up and said "Hold the Blue"~!
He told me lived nearby and that he had seen so many painters try to paint the bluebonnets but cover the whole canvas with too many bluebonnets. I think I need a better camera because the pic of this panting actually looks bluer than the actual painting does. Anyway the fellow came back as I was packing up and he said, "hey nice job" so I think he approved. I had a great time last week painting in Brenham. The weather was great and it was fun and relaxing, the way painting should be. Thank you for looking!

"Kingsland Inn" 11x14

"Kingsland Inn" 11x14 oil on linen
This is one of the paintings I did when in England last October. We were painting in a town in the Cotswolds called Bourton on the Water. It had a little stream running right through the middle of town. This was one of the hotels there on the main street. It was actually sunny that day, one of the few that we had during the whole trip.

Thank you for looking!

The Color of Blue

Seems as if all I have been doing for the past two months are demos and workshops, classes, and commissions. Well, I am working, so I won't complain. I am looking very forward to posting and painting some of my England and France paintings very very soon though so I hope you will check back. I have one more commission to do before I start. It's a still life so should not take that long, hopefully. Anyway, this is a demo that I did for the Arts Council Brownwood Workshop last weekend. What a great group! I really enjoyed traveling there and meeting all the nice folks there. They have asked me back for another workshop so will be doing that in November. Brownwood is west of Waco about an hour or so. West Texas and wide open! Thank you for looking!
